When humans tapped into the infinite source of psionic power, they realised that it can interact not only with minds, but also with certain technology. This psionic technology, often called "psi-tech" or "theotech", proved to have virtually unlimited possibilities, but it could only be operated by powerful psionics, which prevented them from becoming commonplace. In order to utilise the psionics' rare potential to the fullest, the military designed the ultimate fighting vessel: the towering Battleoid. Its amazing body was a blend of machine, quasi-living tissue, and psionic fields, and it was operated by a powerful psi user whose consciousness temporarily extended to the entire unit. The battleoids were far too rare to actually win wars on their own, but with their almost supernatural capabilities they could take on almost anything, in almost any number. Like the knights of old, they became paragons of their fractions, inspiring fear and awe in both allies and enemies.
