The first Battleoid was created in Japan, which had a hard time struggling against the young Dragon Empire. Japanese scientists were given a seemingly impossible task of creating a war machine that would overshadow everything that the enemy could throw at them, despite their obvious disadvantage in terms of resources and morale. Having received all clearance from the desperate government, the scientists involved with the project went along with training young teenagers of significant psionic power, accustoming them to the immerse and dangerous task of "merging" with their respective, custom-build war machines. The Battleoids, as those machines were called, were equipped with the best offensive, defensive and sensory equipment, but their main advantage was their ability to adapt and reshape themselves as desired by the pilot: a function that was limited only by the pilot's psi power. Despite various technical and psychological problems, the machines prove to be such a spectacular success in beating back at the Chinese that they were instantly called the ultimate war engines of the planet Earth, prompting virtually everyone to start building their own Battleoids. One more time the Artificial Intelligences weren't happy about the "unfair" human capabilities.
