The first Tracker units were designed and commissioned in France to deal with the persistent Ecotopian guerillas from western Africa. Modified with bionanotechnological implants and using an array of cutting edge electronic equipment, since their first day they became subject of a heated dispute over the limits of body modifications, therefore becoming one of the milestones in the history of transhumanism. Perhaps the most important factor in that dispute was that the Tracker candidates were "true humans" (as opposed to clones), and the modifications to their bodies were irreversible, even if they wouldn't have prevented them from having a normal life. Such controversies were further fuelled with the fact that the only purpose of Trackers was to become the perfect military equipment, as opposed to transhumans like the Deepguard who were modified for exploration and "adventure", and therefore considered romantic. These doubts were soon forgotten as the world succumbed to pollution, ecoterrorism, and the rise of Technocracies.
