According to an average dictionary definition, a Fanatic is a person of strong beliefs which result in extreme behavior. Such beliefs may be of political, religious or even sports nature, and as such are usually not extreme in themselves; it is the zeal and little tolerance for different opinions that marks a Fanatic. Such people, while often shunned by "normal" citizens, may be instrumental for a political order, especially when that order relies on beliefs as a constituting political factor, like in the Fundamentalist states. Such tendencies were particularly present in many countries who struggled with the modernism, the most iconic (but by no means the only one) being the extreme Islamism.
