Humanitarian Aid was any of the organizations devoted to providing assistance to those in need, usually suffering from poverty or crises. Their objective was to save and improve lives by making sure that basic needs of the recipients, like for example food or medicine, are satisfied. Such organizations were funded by individuals, companies or states, often through institutions like religious gatherings. Perhaps the most famous of them, though by no means the only one, is Doctors Without Borders, established by a group of French physicians and journalists in 1971.
